The picture below is not me nor my daughter
Okay, so I'm still nursing (which it's only been almost 4 months; props to those that go way long (Sara B)). I have to go back to work today (suckass) and so I'm, of course, getting little Shaymeister hooked on bottles but still giving her boob milk. I have 24 bags frozen but the little squirt eats ALOT and I want it to last more than a week. I HATE pumping milk. For those that can pump 8 ounces in 10 minutes, (you know who you are), you can get on with Prairie Farms if you need a job and leave the rest of us alone. I pumped this morning for 25 minutes (this is my net surfing time) and I got 2.5 ounces. Okay, to those that don't know, this may last a 3 1/2 month old for maybe an hour. Well, I'm dry. I'm pouring the gold (needs to be on the stock market) into the bottle and the F'n bottom wasn't on right and I lost an ounce. I'm sure for a guy it's the equivalent of being kicked in the balls repeatedly by a 4-year-old.
Why do I nurse? Sure, it's the "best" for the baby, but a large part of it is due to the price of gas...aka "the boat" and our inability to qualify for WIC, I want to hold off buying formula for as long as I can.
Anywhoo, to the nursing mom's out there, I heard you can sell your milk somewhere on the internet. Hook me up, please, and I'll happily "hook-up" to that friggin' pump.

Your post cracks me up. It is all so true! I breastfeed too (almost 5 months now) and have ups and downs with pumping. There are some herbal teas you can drink to help boost your milk supply. One is Yogi Tea (there is a website). The other is called Organic Mother's Milk by Traditional Medicinals. You can get it at Claybank in Olney. It's caffine free and if you need it sweeter, add honey. It has helped me with all three of my kids. Ya might give it a try, couldn't hurt! Good luck with going back to work. I applaude you for keeping the breastfeeding going!
Thanks for the tea tip. I'll definitely look into that!
You absolutely crack me up! I am actually a little jealous beacause I never got to breastfeed my kids (whole other long story) but your ever-so-true stories are the best!
There are herbal pills called Fenugreek that you can try. They are available at GNC. They do help, I tried them with Cole and they helped a bit.
Cool. If I start taking GNC stuff, I'm definitely going to have a professional athlete on my hands (boob), right?? hehehe
Ha! Shast, reading your blog is like talking right to you, funny chick. When my milk came in it hurt so bad I thought I was going to die. I hooked myself up to the pump, but couldn't get anything to pump. Here I am hooked up to all of these sucking hoses (yuk!) and Chip is surfing the Internet for the pump directions trying to see if I was doing it right. That is when you know it is forever. ha! Hang in there trooper. You are the woman.
Oh Shasta, I am not looking forward to starting breastfeeding and all of the joys that come with it.
You would think with these big girls of mine the milk would have been plentiful, but I can so feel your pain on the pumping time and the liquid gold. Spilling one drop hurts. Let me know if you find an herbal remedy that works wonders for you.
Speaking of the breast feeding, do you have my breast pump??
